We were called to go excavate to replace the sewer of this property. The owner had a backup in the basement. When we unearthed the pipes we discovered that the old terracotta french drain was connected directly to the sewer outside. As this joint was not sealed, the soil and roots infiltrated the pipe and clogged it. We replace it with plastic pipes and strongly recommend the owner to replace the French drain as it is obsolete.
